HighVis CabinetThe illuminated fire extinguisher cabinet
A fire extinguisher cabinet with an etched glass door, lit from its edge, so the cabinet and its instructions stay readable when the room goes dark. Color coded for fire extinguishers, fire hose and AEDs, with battery backup, a one-press test switch and an AC powered door alarm.
Safety is not a luxury
One cabinet. Four color codes.
Each HighVis door is etched with what is inside and lit in its own color, so people find the right equipment at a glance: a fire extinguisher cabinet in red or yellow, a fire hose cabinet in aqua, and an AED cabinet in blue.

Fire Extinguisher Cabinet
Etched with Pull Pin, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep and an extinguisher graphic.

Fire Extinguisher Cabinet
The same etched P.A.S.S. instructions in a yellow color code.

Fire Hose Cabinet
Etched Fire Hose label and hose reel graphic, lit in aqua.

AED Cabinet
Etched Emergency Defibrillator label and heart graphic, lit in blue.
More than a box on the wall
A standard fire extinguisher cabinet is a box with a door. HighVis adds light, a test switch, a door alarm and battery backup to the same spot on the wall.
Functionality
- Location awarenessA lit, etched door marks where the equipment is, even in a dark or smoky hallway.
- Lit 24/7 or outage onlyKeep it glowing around the clock, or have it light up only when the power goes out, on battery backup.
Integration
- SGLS Simple Touch SolutionA lit push switch built into the cabinet runs a timed battery test with one press.
- AC powered door alarmOpening the door sounds a local alarm, so equipment does not walk away unnoticed.
Increased Safety
- High visibilityEdge lighting makes the etched message glow across the whole door.
- Color coded identificationRed and yellow for extinguishers, aqua for fire hose, blue for AED.
Inside the patented design
Every part below is described in U.S. Patent No. 11,143,372.

- Etched windowThe door glass is etched with a message describing the equipment inside, including use instructions such as Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep and a graphic of the equipment.
- Edge lightA light along the edge of the window illuminates the etching. The owner can run it on AC power, on battery, or on AC with battery backup: lit 24/7, or only when the power goes out.
- Lit test switchA push momentary switch with a color tinted, illuminated bezel. The lit bezel shows AC power is on. One press moves the cabinet to battery for a timed test.
- Monitoring and door alarmA microprocessor watches the system. Opening the access door triggers a local alarm, and a sensor can signal when the equipment is removed.
- Battery backupThe backup battery powers the controller when AC power fails.

P.A.S.S. when it counts
The four steps for using a fire extinguisher, lit up right where people need them. Read the P.A.S.S. guide.
Pull the pin. This breaks the tamper seal and unlocks the handle.
Aim the nozzle or hose low, at the base of the fire, not at the flames.
Squeeze the handle slowly and evenly to release the agent.
Sweep side to side at the base until the fire appears to be out. Watch it, and repeat if it flares up.
Built because of the Station Nightclub Fire
On February 20, 2003, a fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island killed 100 people (NIST investigation).
"I designed it because of the Station Nightclub Fire. An extinguisher was 85 feet away from the stage."
Steve Wriggle, HighVis inventor
A safety lesson on constant display
Steve calls HighVis "a subliminal education piece in constant display, bringing a new perspective to fire extinguisher locations." Every time someone walks past a glowing cabinet, they learn where the equipment is and how to use it, long before they ever need it.
Lit 24/7, or only when the power goes out
Owners choose the lighting mode. Keep HighVis glowing around the clock, the way nightclubs and venues use it, or have it light up only during a power outage on its backup battery.

HighVis Cabinet FAQ
What is an illuminated fire extinguisher cabinet?
It is a fire extinguisher cabinet with its own light source, so the cabinet can be found and read in low light. The HighVis Cabinet lights an etched glass door from its edge, so the label and the Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep instructions glow across the whole window.
What can a HighVis Cabinet hold?
The lineup covers fire extinguishers (red and yellow color codes), fire hose (aqua) and AEDs (blue). Each door is etched with the matching label and graphic.
What happens when the power goes out?
The cabinet has a backup battery. Per the patent, the owner can set the edge light to run on AC, on battery, or on AC with battery backup.
Can HighVis stay lit all the time?
Yes. Owners choose: keep the cabinet lit 24/7, as nightclubs and venues do, or have it light up only when the power goes out, running on its backup battery.
Why was HighVis invented?
Inventor Steve Wriggle designed it because of the 2003 Station Nightclub Fire in West Warwick, Rhode Island, where, in his words, an extinguisher was 85 feet away from the stage. Read the story.
Does the cabinet have an alarm?
Yes. An AC powered door alarm sounds locally when the door is opened.
How do you test it?
Press the lit SGLS Simple Touch switch once. The cabinet switches to battery power for a timed test.
Is the HighVis Cabinet patented?
Yes. The design is covered by U.S. Patent No. 11,143,372, issued October 12, 2021.
